Digital dentistry – it’s time to take the leap
Over the last 18 months, the world of orthodontics has taken a giant stride towards all things digital. Digital tools have enabled practices to streamline their workflow, offer faster, more accurate services and order, view, amend and store work at the click of a mouse.
Many of you will have taken that leap into digital dentistry and well and truly found your feet. Others among you may have just taken your first steps and you’re still setting new processes in your practices. If you’re still watching and waiting, now is a good time to get striding, or risk being left behind.
At JJ Thompson, we’ve been working in the digital arena for years. We invested in the very latest 3D printers in 2011 and since then we’ve invested again and again to keep ahead of technology. Our lab is linked to all the main intraoral scan providers and we even built our own online portal, which our customers use to simplify the sending of prescriptions, making communication and file transfer to and from the lab easier.
We’re now excited to be moving on to the next phase of our development. Demand for our digital and 3D printing services has increased exponentially over the last few years, and with it came the need to find more space for
digital technicians and all our 3D printing equipment.
In a few months’ time our new building will be ready to house our very own digital/3D printing division giving us plenty of room to expand, with new printers, talented people and exciting bits of kit!
Our new digital division is even going to get its own brand identity, and right now we’re busy brainstorming names. Got a bright idea for a name for our techie team? Get in touch and let us know!
Our digital team have some great new digital ideas to complement the services we already provide – which we’ll show you later on this year.
All this exciting digital development, and the rise in popularity of intraoral scanners means that we’ve seen a decrease in the number of impressions we receive daily and the number of plaster study models we are asked to
Although we are happy to receive your impressions and we will still have a casting room for a few more years yet, we are encouraging customers to take the first step to working digitally by moving to digital study models files.
If you’re still teetering on the precipice of digital dentistry, talk to us about the transition. We can help and support
you every step of the way – from advising on intraoral scanners and creating a portal account to PAR scoring your cases.
Getting started is simple. Just get in touch and we’ll take it from there.
